Denmark – Among the Top Ten Countries for Global Competitiveness  

Moving up the ladder of the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI), and as of one of the world’s 10 most attractive countries to do business, Denmark now ranks as number 8 in a new report released by the World Economic Forum for 2011.

The report, which takes a look at 12 major factors being Infrastructure, Macroeconomic environment, Health and primary education ,Higher education and training, Goods market efficiency ,Labor market efficiency, Financial market development, Technological readiness, Market size, Innovation and Business sophistication, describes the transparent institutional frameworks, excellent infrastructure, flexible working conditions among higher levels of training and education as one which makes Denmark’s economy and working environment the world’s number 8.

The GCI also takes into consideration flexibility in labor regulations, hiring and firing practices and minimum wages with respect to this Denmark continues to differentiate itself from other Nordic countries as having an efficient and flexible international labor market. 

Subsequently, another report - Doing Business : measuring business regulations -  released by the World Bank ranks Denmark as the second easiest place in Europe to do business and number 6 among 183 countries. Denmark is therefore seen to be a country which hires more workers than its other Nordic counterparts.
