EiD - Copenhagen Folkeuniversitetet: New Partnership

Copenhagen Folkeuniversitet is offering a series of English lectures aimed at expats. The courses include themes like Danish Society, which is a series of lectures in which the overall structure in today’s Denmark is described from 6 different social scientific points of view.

The lecture points how history has influenced everyday life, how the national economy works and how the population is changing demographically. The course presents key aspects of the Danish Constitution, the power structures, political control, the citizens’ involvement and it ends with a lecture on the Danish labour market.

In addition, if you are wondering Why Are the Danes the Way They Are? Then you might find the answer here, with the aid of a brief introduction to social anthropology and its methods, the course will present and discuss central aspects of everyday life, in the context of Danish culture and society. The aim of the course is to provide the participants with tools in order to understand Danish social life, and help them to get along with the Danes.

Lastly, a course covering the legal provisions regulating immigration to Denmark, such as citizenship and the right to family reunion, gives an introduction to the regulation of the Danish Labour market and the conceptual framework for public social benefits. The course will adopt a Danish perspective and will include relevant EU law and human rights law.

As part of spreading the word Expat in Denmark in collaboration with Folkeuniversitet will keep expats informed about upcoming events and lectures.
